ROCK ‘N ROLL – In unrelated stories, the drug-using truck driver who killed Las Vegas resident and rock band Slaughter guitarist Tim Kelly a couple of years ago has been sentenced to 3.5 years in prison and fined $20,000. The band Slaughter (named after Las Vegas native and vocalist Mark Slaughter) was Las Vegas based and nationally known. Full story at http://www.lvrj.com/lvrj_home/1999/Aug-25-Wed-1999/news/11819814.html Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx has been charged with a misdemeanor provoking a breach of peace during the band’s Aug. 11 concert here. SAM’S AMERICAN – City Live magazine (a weekly free newspaper) reviewed this Bellagio eatery at http://lvcitylife.com/pages/Dining/stories/99080501d.html
SECURE ORDERING – We frequently get asked how safe giving your credit card over the internet is. When you buy on the internet, the information is scrambled in a way that is virtually impossible to unscramble except by the receiving computer. That computer then checks with a computer to confirm product availability and then gets credit card approval from another computer.
No humans involved, and your reservation is confirmed in seconds. Compare that to giving your credit card to a waiter at a restaurant (where they vanish for 5 minutes with it) or a live reservations clerk that obtains tons of info about you. Who is more likely to commit fraud with your card, 3 computers or a live human making a possibly low wage?
WINNERS! – Debbie Wegner of Rogers, AR is the winner of the VIP coupons for The Beach nightclub. Debbie was our 10′th entry. Ben Lodderhose of Drums, PA and Michael Gierhart of Huntington Beach, CA are the winners of the free Klondike Casino food coupons. They were are 9′th and 10′th entries.

FEATURE STORY: Las Vegas Lounge Legend Cook E. Jarr
Editors Note: We generally never print any press releases. The people that write these things often make being chained to an ant hill sound more fun than a ride at Disneyland. In addition, we pride ourselves on doing totally independent, unpaid reviews for our feature story each week. We get in our car, go down, and see for ourselves.
Having said that, we wouldn’t edit or change a thing from the following Cook E. Jarr press release. We have been huge fans for years. You may have missed the old “Rat Pack”, but now you get to experience the same vibe. Cook E. has been described as a “lounge act gone astray” (in the very best sense) and provides a non-stop solid wall of fun. In addition, you truly never know which celebrities may pop their heads in to enjoy his show right along with you.
++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ ++
He’s the ultimate showman. He’s the entertainers’ entertainer and he’s at
Casino Royale on the fabulous Las Vegas Strip. Cook E. Jarr, King of
America’s Lounges is performing at Casino Royale’s Volcano Lounge every
Friday and Saturday at 11PM. Get those dancing shoes on and get ready to
party the night away with Cook E. Jarr!
Cook E. Jarr has been voted Number One lounge performer more times than any
other performer in the history of Las Vegas. He is well known for
attracting big-name celebrities to his phenomenal performances.
The flamboyant performer has entertained Tom Jones, Liza Minelli, Oprah
Winfrey, Montel Williams, Ricki Lake, Quentin Tarantino, Andrew Dice Clay,
The Righteous Brothers, The Beach Boys, Frankie Valli, Grace Jones, Kevin
Pollak, Paul Shaffer, Martin Short, Dennis Miller, George Carlin, Sheena
Easton, Pete Rose, Riddick Bowe, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Jimmy
Alec, Dennis Blair, John Caponera, Howard Cosell, Kool & The Gang, Michael
Bolton, Whitney Houston, David Copperfield, Claudia Schiffer and countless
comedians.
What makes The Jarr so popular among famous celebrities, Las Vegas locals,
and tourists? One glimpse of his show and you’ll know why!
One of the reasons for his popularity is the man lives the Vegas
life-style. “I’m a big gambler. People who come to see the show are in for
a great time! I keep the crowds energized with a wide variety of music. I
have so much fun, it’s not just singing and dancing, it’s one big party!”
Jarr said.
He often starts his show with personally greeting the audience with high
fives and handshakes. As soon as he hits the stage, the party begins.
His popularity also reached national attention. Popular music channels MTV
and VH-1 interviewed Jarr for their rock ‘n’ roll specials. Cable TV
station Comedy Central enjoyed their time with the Jarr so much — they have
repeated his interview on the “Daily Show” several times.
Jarr can create the intensity and full sound of a large dance band. The
night club atmosphere with his charismatic style will dazzle the audience!
The charismatic performer keeps the audience glued to the stage with his
unique vocal impressions and dazzling stage presence. The Jarr is seen in
tailored jackets and adorned with diamonds and gold.
No where else will you find a show that combines the best modern music
with the old standards and even some classic impressions of Las Vegas
favorites including Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr. and a hysterically funny
Jimmy Durante. Cook E.. Jarr’s fans are legendary for their loyalty to him
and after his performance you can see why!

LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
>Enjoy you newsletter..I do have a couple of questions.
> l. I see for two weeks that the winners of the coupons were from
>California. since I’m from NY we don’t get your letter until after
>midnight and we are in bed. Is there anyway we would ever have a
>chance at these?
> Thanks for all your good information.
Thanks for your concern. We make every effort to make the chance of winning the coupons and prizes as random as possible. We choose the 10′th entry. Some days, we have 20 entries in a few hours. Sometimes it takes 2 days to hit that 10′th entry mark. Please keep in mind that the number of subscribers who are going to be in Las Vegas during the dates the coupons are valid is both small and variable. So, it is sheer luck to be the 10′th considering all of the above.
By far, more Californians visit Las Vegas than from any other state or country, which probably means that more Californians subscribe to this newsletter. Having said all that, only one of our three winners this past week was from California, and we welcome readers from around the world!
