Newkirk’s Notes - comments on Las Vegas from AccessVegas.Com publisher Ted Newkirk:

Hello from Las Vegas! As many of you know, we are the leader in bringing you streaming video of the Las Vegas hotels, shows, and attractions. We feel that video helps you plan a better vacation, check out a show you’re not sure about seeing, and gives you that Vegas Vibe when you can’t come visit. Enjoy the new videos listed in this issue!

Desert Inn Implosion - The DI is coming down around 1:00 AM on November 17, 2004. This is one of the few remaining pieces of old Las Vegas standing on The Strip and it appears that this will be the last implosion for an extended period of time. If there is a way to beg, borrow, or steal to make it to town to see this one, do it.

While rumors of The Tropicana and Frontier implosions always swirl, we don’t see it happening anytime soon. Las Vegas is absorbing new rooms at The Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio and Wynn Las Vegas before we know it. The new Trump Las Vegas is going up behind the Frontier, but sparing the hotel casino. Tropicana is the perennial implosion candidate, but it is questionable how much better a new resort could be on that property at this time. Of course, this is Las Vegas. Anything can happen!

Celine Dion - Talk is that she might be extending her very successful run at Ceasars Palace. This show continues to be one of the huge draws in Las Vegas, and has redefined the art of Headline Entertainment, paving the way for Elton John and others to do big, regular Las Vegas production concerts.

Celine Info and Links:

Lake Las Vegas - Many of you might have seen a recent article on this Southern Nevada oasis in your local paper. If not, you can click to read it here: Desert resort offers golf, gondolas and fly fishing. This really is a best kept secret in the desert, and only located about 30 minutes by freeway from The Strip. The hotels, casinos, and shops are beautiful and luxurious, surrounding a huge man-made lake.

Bellagio Photos - We’ve added more photos to our Bellagio Photos Section

Newkirk’s Notes - comments on Las Vegas from AccessVegas.Com publisher Ted Newkirk:

Hello from Las Vegas! After a couple of 110 degree days, it looks to be a great weekend with highs only around 100. (Hey … it really is a dry heat … beats Florida in the 90’s). Speaking of, our best wishes for our Florida readers to see minimal impact from the hurricanes headed your way.

New Mandalay Bay Photos - Check out the great new Mandalay Bay photos added to our gallery.

September Travel Tip - September (after Labor Day) is a great time to be in Las Vegas. A slow travel and convention month, the rates are surprisingly reasonable considering the perfect weather. Average high/low is 94/69 F. Click to check our rates and extend your summer another month. Oh, did I mention that football will be in full swing? Nothing beats the rush of betting on your favorite team!

We just found out there there are a few tickets left for his Aug. 26 - Sept. 8, 2004 engagement at the MGM Grand. Why see him in Las Vegas? He plays the intimate 740-seat Hollywood Theatre instead of the larger venues he plays when on tour. This amazing venue has no bad seats. It has no distant seats. No “nosebleed” section here. We’ve seen his show and find it breathtaking every time. If you are local or going to be in town, don’t miss David Copperfield. PT’s 2005 Calendar Girls

PT’s calendar girl, Brittney, to host a meet and greet to promote the new 2005 PT’s Calendar.

If you are driving in or will have a rental car this Friday, you want to hang with the locals for this one. PT’s Pubs is a famous chain of Las Vegas bars that the locals love. This Friday August 13, Calendar Girl Brittney (pictured left) hosts her party and it is convenient for tourists too!

PT’s Gold Sunset (1661 E. Sunset Rd) is not only close to The Strip, but has an amazing view of The Strip, a really nice, semi-upscale but fun atmosphere, and is our personal favorite place to watch our beautiful Las Vegas sunsets.

The event begins at 4 p.m. and includes happy hour specials such as a $2 wine, well drinks and domestic draft beer along with half off any pizza until 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public (must be 21). The 2005 PT’s Calendar is available for advance purchase for only $12.
